I have observed this over the years as well. Long ago, if you veered too much out the norm or embraced quick and easy shortcuts to the truth that seemed far fetched, you were considered a simpleton with a fantastical imagination and ultimately naive and gullible and even crazy. While this is true still. The shift that has taken place over the past few decades is that once, conspiracy theories were easy to embrace, like trendy catch phrases that required little thought to follow. Now, instead of a conspiracy theorist being a follower, there is so much information and misinformation out there and people are suspicious of everyone else that the average conspiracy theorist has developed a healthy skepticism. What has happened over the years is remarkable. The conspiracy theorist is now becoming the leader. Since so few people are defending their right to think!

I think what has truly happened is that so few people these days think at all and are on average so dull and empty and void of feeling or passion, that the conspiracy theorist is still holding on to this conviction inside themselves that the truth is important and are willing to defend this state of mind. As a result, they are exercising their minds in ways that are actually very healthy.

A healthy mind will always take "Everything" into consideration and avoid the bad and destructive habit of becoming dismissive, which is what so called educated people every single day : dismiss and marginalize things they don't like with fancy language.
